There are daily and weekly classes and shiurim on a variety of topics. In addition to the ongoing classes, there are occasional lunch and learns, downtown shiurim, and Saturday night learning programs. Check the calendar for times.

Shaarei Shomayim has an active Gemara class on every weekday morning, Sunday through Friday. Generally they take place 45 minutes before the first minyan, that is, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:15 AM, Monday and Thursday at 6:10 AM, and Sunday classes begin at 7:30 AM. Check the calendar for specific times. Due to COVID, the class time has changed to 6:15 AM Monday-Friday, until further notice. The class covers approximately one amud (page) every day. Classes include much discussion of the concepts and application of the Talmud. This class is led by Rabbi Bergman. The class meets in the Weinbaum Beit Midrash. Due to COVID, the class will take place via Zoom until further notice. Men and women of all levels of experience are welcome. We are currently studying tractate Pesachim.

The Adult Education committee presents exciting seasons of classes each spring and fall. Check the calendar for updates, including room locations and cancellations.

Shavuot offers a time for the community to join together to complete a significant project of Torah learning. This project begins shortly after Passover. Sections of a Torah text are assigned to volunteers who study them individually or in small groups. Hebrew and English texts are made available, as well as commentaries. In the past three years, our community has completed Tanach, Mishna, and Sefer HaChinuch.

In the winter months, our synagogue hosts a learning program for children and their parents. Children and adults study specially prepared lessons and engage in discussion. Results of this study are discussed by the entire group. The evening concludes with pizza and prizes for the kids.

Rabbi Diamond, Rabbi Bergman, or a guest speaker often gives a one-hour class on various topics an hour before Mincha on Shabbat.
