Shaarei Shomayim Congregation, located in mid-town Toronto, Canada, is a modern orthodox centre of Jewish life which provides the means for the fulfillment of religious, educational and social needs and which seeks to inspire the community to greater commitments to Torah, the Jewish people and the State of Israel. The shul is within the community eruv.

	Rabbi Hired! Feb. 28, 2008 - Shaarei Shomayim is delighted to announce that we  have hired Rabbi Chaim Strauchler as rabbi of our shul.  We look forward to the arrival in August of Rabbi Strauchler, his wife Avital and their family.  This is the beginning of an exciting new era for our members and our synagogue.
	Adult Education Classes - May 2008 Back By Popular Demand! Rabbi Selevan - Starting Tue., May 6 for 4 weeks, at 7:30 p.m. The topics are as follows: Inyanei Yom Ha'atzmaut Inyanei Sefirah Inyanei Yom Yerushalayim Inyanei Shavuot and Kabbalat HaTorah Rabbi Hecht - Starting Wed.,  May 14 for 4 weeks, at 7:30 p.m. The topic is Crisis in Jewish Identity and he will look at issues in Jewish identity including (but not limited to) the problems with its definition, conversion and Jewish unity.
	Adult Education -Presentation Monday, May 12 @8:00 p.m. Rabbi Dan Roth will be giving a multi-media presentation on the mitzvah of "Maaser Kesafim", the obligation to give a tenth of income to charity.  Rabbi Dan Roth is the author of the recent book Relevance - Pirkei Avos for the Twenty First Century (Feldheim). The presentation explains the historical, philosophical and halachic aspects of Maaser Kesafim. Rabbi Roth also gives invaluable practical advice on how to keep track of income and tzedaka payments.
	March of the Living Shabbat, May 17, 2008 Join us this Shabbat when participants who are members of our shul will share their experiences after davening, at about 11:15 a.m., in the Sanctuary.
