When necessary, Judaism provides a means for divorce.
A religious divorce is called a get. A get must be hand-written by a scribe and given in the presence of witnesses. This process is overseen by a religious court, a beis din.
The get process is supervised in Toronto by Rabbi Mordechai Ochs. To learn more about the get process, please contact Rabbi Strauchler. To schedule an appointment with the Toronto Beis Din, please contact Rabbi Ochs at 416-781-9676. Our community provides volunteers to accompany a man or woman at a get proceeding, if requested.
At the conclusion of the get process, documents attesting to the permissibility of both parties to remarry will be issued by the Beit Din - please keep these documents with your permanent records.
