Shaarei Shomayim is committed to being a shul that is completely inclusive to people of all needs.

This includes a commitment to having a completely accessible building. We have a ramp to main doors as well as an elevator for those with mobility challenges. As part of the sanctuary redesign, our main sanctuary now has wider doorways and a fully accessible bima. Future design includes a new accessible aron kodesh as well as torah table.

We have a working Inclusion Committee to ensure that all aspects of our facility and community are welcoming to people of all abilities.

Shaarei Shomayim features inclusive programming throughout the year with a special emphasis during UJA Federation's Shabbat Itanu. Recent highlights include a partnership with Yaffi Ulman and Camp Aim for a wonderful youth shabbaton and a shul-wide presentation from Ellen Schwartz of Jacob’s Ladder for Shabbat Itanu.

Future plans include prioritizing physical accessibility, developing programming on inclusion awareness, and building on the success of the Camp Aim Shaarei Shomayim youth programs.
